Nokia related news round-up (all about Nokia)

Nokia has been very active recently, and there are several newsworthy topics out there

  • Nokia released a set of new phones
including the ultra-thin N75, the latest addition to N-series. For some reason I’m having a very hard time understanding why cell phones need to be constantly smaller and thinner; it’s the usability that matters.
  • WidSets beta launched
WidSets is Nokia’s attempt to get involved with Web 2.0 craze. I truly think this service has the potential to make it big time, and it definetely provides some interesting new ways to promote services / content.
  • Nokia ads GPS navigation and location features to Nokia Phones
Nokia announced on Monday an exclusive licensing agreement with GPS technology developer Trimble, in a move to add navigation and location features to Nokia mobile phones.
  • Bluetooth is dead, all hail Wibree
The latest addition from Nokia labs in Wibree, a new lightweight technology that can be used / replace Bluetooth. There are already wild guessess that upcoming Nokia phones will include both Bluetooth and Wibree support…. I agree that Bluetooth has it’s problems, but I don’t believe the consumer markets are ready for YAGTWAN (”yet another geek technonology with akward name).

Have your say!
